Cutting edge engineering services in power system modelling, studies and model validation through on-site testing to fulfill your NERC compliance requirements and achieve the optimal level of compliance, performance and reliability.

We offer a wide range of services to support generation facility owners and operators to meet NERC standards and requirements.

The Company

Eloxson was founded in 2021 by a team of power system engineers with a strong background in protection systems, power system modelling and validation, and excitation & governor commissioning. Eloxson is well positioned to support its customers in the increasingly technical world of compliance with regulatory requirements.

Mission

Eloxson aims to use its expertise and knowledge to become a key resource to facility owners and operators as they endeavour to fulfil the requirements of NERC and the Regional Entities.

With the electrical grid’s increased reliance on renewable energy from distributed generation, the more traditional synchronous generating plants role in frequency and voltage support grows in importance. Eloxson aims to support the energy transition by helping generation owners and grid operators demonstrate compliance with the requirements.

Values

Eloxson has as its core values dedication and strong work ethic, commitment to the technical nature of the work and consistent follow-through on promises made to customers. We understand and value that the work we do for our customers is critical in their ability to deliver energy to the market.

Our Services

Our past experiences in major generating unit rehabilitations and new generation projects in the energy sector have led us to develop a special expertise in:

  • Protection System

  • Power System Modelling & Simulation

  • Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR) & Speed Governors

  • Advanced Control and Network Communication Architecture

  • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Testing

We offer a turnkey service to help generation facility owners and operators meet the complex requirements of NERC and other independent entities.

Our services include the initial systems modelling, followed by on-site testing, parameters validation, the implementation of final settings, and the preparation of the final report and any regulatory forms.

Our Leadership Team

Hubert Gagnon M. Eng., P. Eng.

Power System Engineer

Hubert graduated from Laval University in Quebec City, Canada with a bachelor’s degree in physics engineering in 2014 and graduated from Polytechnique University with a master’s degree in electrical engineering in 2015.

During his master’s degree, he worked with Hydro-Québec research institute (IREQ) to develop and validate new protection schemes in microgrid and autonomous networks, he studied network stability with large inverter-based resource penetration, and he performed power system studies using several electrical software platforms.

Since 2016, Hubert has dedicated his career to the energy sector working on diverse projects primarily for Ontario Power Generation. He has developed a special skillset that includes the design of control and protection systems, power system studies & simulations, excitation system tuning and hydroelectric powerplant commissioning.

In 2021, Hubert became one of the founding and managing partners of Eloxson.

David L. Fafard P. Eng.

Power System Engineer

David holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Sherbrooke University. Since 2016, David has dedicated his career to the energy sector, working on various projects for power producers such as Hydro-Quebec, Ontario Power Generation, Innergex, Brookfield, Hydro-Ottawa and others.

During these years, David worked on the development of regulation products (speed governors and static excitation systems), participating in the design, production testing, commissioning and tuning of these systems. He also contributed to the commissioning of unit controllers and the implementation of SCADA systems.

David has been involved in several R&D projects, including the homologation of new products: speed governor, static excitation controller and protection relays and the development of IEC61850 communication networks.

In 2021, David became one of the founding and managing partners of Eloxson.
